The association Tectónica Cultural has presented the fifth edition in the Valencian Community of the project Dones Artistes Rurals (DAR) Mancomunitats del Maestrat i Els Ports, an initiative that seeks to promote visual artists in rural areas, in the premises of the Forn in the municipality of Castellfort in the Alto Maestrazgo of Castellón.
The event was attended by the director of the project, Clara Albacete, who was accompanied by all the participants of this new call. Albacete expressed her enthusiasm and stressed that “digitalisation is essential in rural areas and brings with it multiple opportunities such as social participation”. “We train visual artists virtually so that they can become professionals and make a living from art”, said the director of DAR and also president of Tectónica Cultural.
In addition to presenting the training methodology, she explained the dissemination strategy and the promotion of collaborative networks of the cultural project. Specifically, the artists chosen for this new edition are Mireia Ávila, Anne Barton de Mayor, Tawny Blume, Piluka Diago, Laia Gombau, Janavi, Raquel MendozaArt, Mar Navarro Llombart and Gabriela Rivera Lucero. Their biographies and works are already available on the DAR website.
At the end of the presentation, the artists had the opportunity to get to know each other and start interacting with each other. It is essential to create a network of work, support, cultural diversity and dissemination among DAR women,” said Clara Albacete.
This is the fifth edition of DAR in the Comunitat Valenciana, to which we must add two more editions in Catalonia. The project began cultural management in 2020 with the objectives of making the work of women visual artists from rural areas visible, generating networks among the participants and covering their training needs for their professionalisation.
