Ulldecona (10.04.2024). The creative talent of eight women from the DAR (Rural Women Artists) collective of Terres de l’Ebre was showcased in an exhibition held on April 7, framed within the Variètes project of Col·lectiu Cultura, with the support of the Ulldecona Town Hall (Tarragona). These creators joined forces to bring to life an exhibition that continues to energize the cultural sector of the area.

Marta Vidal, Idil Pernil, Antònia Ripoll, Sarah Misselbrook, Anna Mateu, Rosa Curto, Anna Arques, and Gemma Ginovart are the eight women who are part of DAR Terres de l’Ebre and who are behind this exhibition, which spans from performance to sculpture, through photography and installation. Each of them brings a unique perspective and unparalleled skill to this showcase of creativity.

The exhibition will be open to the public throughout the month of April on Thursdays and Fridays, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, at Lo Local (av. Generalitat, 2. Ulldecona). The exhibition offers all those looking for inspiration a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating universe of the DAR Terres de l’Ebre artists. It is an invitation to discover the magic that arises when art and community come together.

Clara Albacete, president of DAR, in statements to the media, highlighted the importance of this rural women artists’ project, focused on training for the professionalization of visual women artists residing in rural areas, as well as promoting their artistic careers and encouraging the generation of networks among the artists themselves. Additionally, Albacete shared revealing data, such as 66% of the artists having received commissions from public administrations, and 22% having received some form of award or recognition. These figures demonstrate the strength of the project.

For her part, Rosa Curto explained that the women in DAR represent different ages and life situations, but “they have a lot in common.”

Variètes is an initiative by Col·lectiu Cultura aimed at supporting the cultural sector in Terres de l’Ebre and stimulating the local economy in Ulldecona. Its main goal is to offer a versatile space for a wide range of cultural and artistic events, including exhibitions, concerts, and workshops. The project aims to foster collaboration between artists and promote cultural exchange in the region, thereby contributing to the enrichment of the community and local economic development.
