The exhibition features a selection of 15 mixed-media works with human emotions and feelings as their central theme.
(Segorbe, July 2024). The Delegated Commission of the Bancaja Foundation in Segorbe presents the exhibition “With Meaning,” a showcase of 15 mixed-media works by the artist Meluca Redón, from Palancia, whose guiding thread is human emotions. Curated by Clara Albacete, the exhibition aims to reflect on the need to reconnect with personal contact and direct experiences that stimulate our emotions. The collection invites the viewer to immerse themselves in a dreamlike universe where reverie, mystery, fantasy, and reality intertwine, creating a unique and personal visual language.
The tour through the exhibition space introduces images centered around the five senses (touch, hearing, sight, smell, and taste), either directly through depictions of body parts associated with these senses or through the perception and stimulation that art can generate. Through her paintings, Meluca explores the intimate relationship between sensory perception, sensations, emotions, and feelings. In her own words: “In an increasingly digital world, it is becoming urgent to relearn how to observe, feel, and interact with nature, people, and daily life in a sensory way.”
The works in the exhibition address themes such as melancholy, longing, memory, mourning, and nostalgia, while also incorporating opposite but compatible feelings like vitality and the joy of living. The use of vibrant colors is another defining feature of her work.
The exhibition includes an interactive installation titled “How Are You?” A camera on a tripod is placed in front of a chair where visitors can sit behind a hanging frame. Spectators can play with fragments of faces available to them, each depicting different emotions, thus creating unique portraits.
The exhibition “With Meaning” is open from July 11 to August 18 at Casa Garcerán in Segorbe, on Thursdays from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and from Friday to Sunday (including holidays) from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM and 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
